The 94th annual Multnomah County Fair is held at Oaks Park in Portland. Oaks Park is a year round fun center with a carnival and food area. The grounds are filled with old oak trees with frontage on the Willamette River. The Multnomah County Fair started in 1907 in Gresham. Here, Vicki and her friend Joyce Nitz are chatting about something while the little train wanders by.
Here we are with Joyce, Gary and Ralph Nitz. That's Ken in the front. I have to tell you...these seats are made for 8 year olds. The knees bump the seat backs. This was such a pleasant evening with the clear sky and warm temperature I guess we didn't mind the knee action.
Well now...what do we have here? It's the Country Cloggers. Looks like good exercise.
Here's our buddy Todd Whited from Sumner, Washington. Todd shapes various critters out of cedar.
Here is Barbara Summery with daughter Christine and friend Lenaya Whitsell. They were in charge of the 4H booth area. We asked if they would mind if we took their picture. OK's were given but then the hair thing got started. While we are all waiting for the girls to do their hair click here |

Here they are...with hair all properly done. You have to just love the enthusiasm for life of people involved with 4H.
This is Pat Dunn. The interesting looking steer is a Highland. Highland
Cattle are an old breed known to have grazed the rugged Scottish landscape
since the Sixth Century. They are very even tempered and have a great face
and horns.

This is Nicole Loehr a 4H member with her goat named Gertrude. Nicole also has a turkey named Chester, a pig named Arnold and sheep named Annie and Anabell.
Oaks Park has the second largest indoor roller skating rink in the USA.
We talked with a very nice young man about the history. We wanted to share
it with you but the short discussion between ourselves was too humorous.
Here listen... This may take a few seconds to load. |
