So here we are at the Fair. 92 degrees, It's a Saturday night in Madras. We're ready to party. |

Old time tractors, cars. This was good stuff. They also had a bunch of those 2 and 3 horsepower engines that pop as their governors keep the speed constant.
There were oodles of friendly people just wandering around the fair on a hot Saturday night.
4H auction time. Get yourself to a County Fair. Talk with the 4H members. Spend a few hours. Ask them what they are going to do with their life. Then go to the market auction. See what happens when their cow, sheep, swine, etc. goes to auction. Afterwards talk with them about how they feel about things. Just go do it. |

FFA award banners for the Jefferson County FFA members.
Did you ever see so much canned goods at a County Fair. Canned seems like
the wrong term when it is in a glass jar. Did you know that The Hermetic Fruit Jar Company (Alexander H. Kerr, owner) was started in Portland, Oregon (1902 - 1903) It became Kerr Glass Manufacturing Company in the same location (1903 - 1912). Offices and Manufacturing Facilities were located throughout the United States during subsequent years until late 1991 when Kerr was sold to the Ball Company. What a Country. |

Here they are. The guardians of the open fair competition. Barb Hill on the left and Bev Forman on the right. Absolutely friendly and such nice people. We could have talked all night. Next year this time we could be living in the country and active in a County Fair and 4H activity. These ladies were excellent ambassadors for Jefferson County. I think if Barb and Bev were in charge of the world, all would be OK. |
|
Slice 'em and dice 'em. Cook 'em and fry 'em. This is always fun to sit and watch.
Time to head for the bunkhouse and call it a day. The Jefferson County Fairgrounds were very orderly and clean. Good job. |
