big crowds in amusement area I swear...one half of the people in the State of Oregon were at the Benton County Fair. There were a bazillion people here.
more crowds Here were some of the kids waiting in line to ride another gut wrenching ride. That grove of oak trees in the background housed dozens of vendors selling the four basic fair food groups. It was a very pleasant area to wander.
tractor trolley from parking lot Here's a fun way to ride in from the parking lot. Just like Disneyland...only more fun.
Educational Display grades 4-5 These Displays are very interesting. A member or group or school class can enter an Educational Display. Each exhibit must be accompanied by an explanation including the source of information, why the topic was chosen and what the viewer should know or learn from the display. Topics can be on just about anything.
table setting open competition Here is an interesting open competition. Table setting. You see some very creative table settings.
Shawna and Johannah with Angora rabbit The fuzzy ball in front is an Angora rabbit. The fur is as amazingly soft as you can imagine. Shawna Foster is on the left and Johannah Withrow-Robinson is on the right. They explained that Angora rabbit hair is used for Angora sweaters. Angora wool from Angora sheep is used for mohair sweaters. Who knew.
Kirsten with Luminase This is Kirsten Perkins hiding behind the ear of her toggenburg goat Luminanse. The arm belongs to Kirsten's mom Madelon. Did you know that goats have 4 stomachs. That is why they are constantly chewing. They chow down then rechew later and so on and so on. And if you take goats milk and add rennet, salt and a culture you get the smoothest cheese called Chevre. We went right out and bought some. It is delightful.
Vic with her new goat buddy Vic is seriously considering moving to the country and having farm animals after this County Fair road trip. Vic has found a fondness for the goats.
sheep judging Here is a sheep judging event. These judging events are more to find out how each member has done in training and grooming their animal than judging the animal.
