Here we are at the Clatsop County Fair held near Astoria. Even though this is inland 7 miles from the ocean, the cool damp ocean air gives the fair a nice beach feel.
Clatsop County has a very large arena that holds most of the 4H animal exhibts. The horses have their own stables. I wonder why that is always the case. They must be a little less social.
Don't you just love these big old barns. This one housed offices and fair storage.
Another people mover. | |
The amusement area was lively and glowed in the evening air with screams and music.
Nasty Turtiums love the Oregon Coast. They may be classified as a weed here. I'm not sure. Mine at home don't look this good.
Well now...here we have Patrick Lines. Patrick is a Team Leader for the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. This large sign is going up next week at Fort Stevens State Park. Clatsop County is rich in history. Lewis and Clark completed their overland expedition here in 1806.
It was time. | |
It is hard to put this image in words. The sun has descended below the horizon. The wind has died down. The sky is clear. The crescent moon is up. It is a delightful completion to a fun evening in Clatsop County at the fair. |
